Tree House
Wales, UK
Teaming up with our long-term clients, Peerless Solutions, we designed a custom and creative duplex tree house in Surrey, UK.
When designing something as unique as a treehouse, the land and the specific grouping of trees play the most significant roles in dictating the final design. After identifying the four trees, the design process became organic. An outdoor staircase led to a large sweeping balcony that occupied half of the built area and provided access to a duplex cabin clad in pine wood louvers.
The interior featured white walls, pine wood slatted roofing, and large windows that allowed natural light to flood the space. On the ground floor, a modern lounge area, kitchen, fireplace, and bathroom were created. A black metal mezzanine structure with a staircase served as the bedroom, storage, study, and mini balcony above. Additional light came from narrow portrait windows ascending the stairs.
Beneath the treehouse, space was designated for a carport. This project was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, or at least a first for me, and one that I am grateful to have been a part of.
